About the event
Distraction Camp (Level 2) is designed to build on the skills necessary for both sport and professional K9 teams to perservere despite multitudes of distractions. This camp is open to all appropriate K9 teams as well as auditors. We will concentrate on the elements necessary to succeed at detection work, whether it is the sport or using your dog in professional applications, while increasing a dog’s engagement and confidence. This camp will aid in building independent search skills, handler skills, better leash handling techniques, understanding how to read a dog, developing management habits during distracted searching to bring your dog back to the task at hand. We will also discuss building training scenarios to challenge your partner, trouble shooting, and planning training to maximize learning when it comes to distractions.
Each day will includes working dogs as well as round table discussions. We are focused on meeting teams at their level and providing ample opportunity for individualized instruction.
Venues will include farm building, barns, vehicles, and limited large areas. We will also include several field trips to distracting environments.
